Is this product suitable to take from birth?
It is recommended infants aged 0 - 6 months are breastfeed exclusively, please consult your healthcare professional should you have any questions about your personal circumstances and use only as directed. We have formulated this product as some infants and children may need additional nutrients to help fill nutritional gaps when dietary intake is inadequate. We have ensured that all nutrients from our products have an age-appropriate dosage and that each dose falls within the recommended daily intake for these nutrients. Can this product be taken simultaneously with other vitamins/supplements?
Regular monitoring of your child’s dietary intake is important to ensure a healthy balanced diet is being consumed, though sometimes nutritional gaps may develop, and supplements may be considered (though should not replace a balanced diet). Bio Island products are complementary medicines which may be taken for extended periods of time based on the recommended daily usage as shown on the label or as directed by a healthcare professional to assist with dietary inadequacies. Supplements can contain broad spectrum vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients so it is important to always read the label and use only as directed for the duration of taking the product. How do I give this product to my child?
Please follow the dosage instructions on the label. For children under 5 years and those who cannot safely swallow, cut the capsule tail, and squeeze the contents onto a spoon before administering into mouth. Alternatively, the dosage can be squeezed onto food. This product should be taken with a meal.
Is this product suitable for people with a seafood allergy?
Bio Island Cod Liver + Fish Oil for Kids contains natural marine fish oil and would not be suitable for those with a fish or shellfish allergy.
Does this product contain mercury?
Bio Island DHA for Kids and DHA for Pregnancy are formulated with algae DHA rather than derived from fish. Bio Island DHA for Kids and DHA for Pregnancy have been tested and comply with all relevant regulations. There is no safety concern relating to mercury in these products.
Does this product contain gelatine?
Bio Island products use softgel capsules made from pharmaceutical grade gelatine (bovine). This ingredient is considered safe to use for oral consumption and can be easily digested.
Is this product vegan or vegetarian friendly?
Bio Island DHA for Kids and DHA for Pregnancy use DHA sourced from microalgae and are both suitable for vegan or vegetarians, only when the capsule is pierced and only the oil is consumed. However, this is personal preference as some vegetarians or vegans may not want to consume due to the oil having touched the bovine gelatine capsule.
